ONE WAY is introducing its new trekking pole collection for Spring 2024, offering a complete line of poles with foldable and telescoping shafts, multiple grip options, and clean, innovative designs. We tested the MTX Carbon Vario Dark as a versatile and durable option for great performance in any season or terrain. Here is an overview of the features.
Foldable and Adjustable
The poles fold to a length of 40 CM for easy storage. The foldable design also makes setting up the poles quick and easy, as you unfold the poles and slide the metal quick lock into place. The metal quick lock also allows for fast and simple height adjustment, with the pole measuring 115-135 CM, and the body measuring f165-195 CM.
Weight and Material
All five segments of the poles are made from 100% carbon, making them able to withstand dynamic weight and are resistant to bending and flexing under stress. The carbon material also makes the poles extremely lightweight at 225 G, or 0.49 lbs.
When testing the poles out, the extremely light weight was one of the most notable features; even after a three-day long backpacking trip, the poles did not add any stress or extra weight on the arms and hands. The poles also performed well on a variety of terrain and conditions, from softer soil to wet rock-covered trails.
Grip and Strap
Though we are usually a fan of poles with cork grips, some of the other most notable features of the MTX trekking poles were the MT EVA Grip and MT Pro Strap. The grip had a soft and extremely comfortable feel that did not cause any hand slipping The foam also did not accumulate sweat or moisture. In addition, the Pro Strap was easy and quick to adjust, even when on the move. The strap is also made of a soft lightweight material that does not rub or cause discomfort on the wrist.
Interchangeable Basket
For multi-season use, the MTX trekking poles feature an interchangeable basket and come with a screw-on 40 mm basket. This allows users to customize and change the surface area of the base of the pole to increase or decrease the weight load to prevent sinking in snow, powder, mud, dirt, and sand. Users can also completely remove the basket when in rocky terrain or when bushwacking to avoid damage or getting the poles stuck.
ONE WAY’s trekking line is expected to be available in Spring 2024 and offers a wide variety of trekking poles to meet a wide variety of needs. To learn more, click here to visit their website.
