Columbia is one of the many companies at the forefront of waterproofing technology. The company’s Outdry construction, is the latest technology it has come up with, that is used in footwear, gloves and backpacks, to create a waterproof barrier without a bladder or sealed construction that can reduce breathability.
According to Outdry construction, water can not penetrate through the membrane construction and the product remains light and dry. The membrane also allows more airspace within products like the shoe so that there is greater potential for drying and breathability. Ben Hodgdon, the Global Finance & Operations Manager for Outdry, explains how this technology is used in Columbia’s footwear.
