You can get big power from a little flashlight that weighs only 3.1 ounces.
The ICON Link flashlight is compact, but features a bright 50 Lumens output. The carabiner design also makes it easy to clip on to your backpack, climbing harness or belt, making it readily available when you need it.
Machined from high-strength aluminum, the Link feels solid and very capable of taking abuse if it bangs up against the rest of your gear. The LED beam has two outputs. Click the thumb switch at the base of the flashlight and the 50 Lumens bright light easily cuts through the dark. The light has a moderately narrow beam with most of the light concentrated in the center and is not adjustable
Click the button again to turn the light off, then click on again and it will put the flashlight into the low 6 Lumens mode. This comes in very handy when you’re in a solo tent and don’t need a bright light to access your gear. The switch also has a momentary function that allows the light to be on while you hold the switch down half way. You can also operate between the high and low modes this way as well. Because of the momentary switch, you’ll have to loosen the battery compartment cap so that the light doesn’t turn on while in your pack. This isn’t necessary, however, if you clip it onto to something.
The ICON Link is only 4-inches long, weights 3.1 ounces and takes a single AA battery. While the lightweight and sturdy design is great, the single battery only lasts three hours in the 50 Lumens mode. Because of this, You will need to carry extra batteries for extended backpacks or camping excursions; which means added weight. If you use the low-light (6 Lumens) mode however, the battery lasts 70 hours. So the Link works best as a personal flashlight to rummage through your pack at night.
Because the ICON Link is constructed with O-rings, it’s waterproof down to 1 meter, meaning it will withstand an occasional rain storm or being accidentally dropped into a stream. But aside of the flashlight’s performance the Link also looks great and comes in a variety of colors that look good, just in case you need to pull it out from your Coach purse.
