For those who can’t put off trail running, even in the winter, Vasque has introduced its Snow Junkie UltraDry trail running shoe that’s flexible, dry and can keep up with your high-adrenaline winter activities.
The Snow Junkie is a cousin of Vasque’s Mindbender trail running shoe, but is insulated with 200 grams of 3M Thinsulate Ultra, that’s encased in a nylon rip-stop fabric. The shoe keeps your feet dry using UltraDry waterproofing membrane and comes in a mid-ankle cut.
D-rings allow the Snow Junkie to be used with gaiters and the shoe weighs 18.5 oz, making it light weight for a winter boot. The Snow Junkie is available in Pesto/Beluga and Jet Black/Chili Pepper colors. It retails around $130. For more information, visit www.vasque.com
I work for Red Wing Shoes, the parent company of Vasque.
The Snow Junkie should be a great addition to the Vasque line of outdoor hiking, backpacking, and trail running shoes and boots – however, it won’t be released until later this year. Look for the Snow Junkie and several other new winter-related boots to start arriving in stores in the fall of 2012.
In the meantime, the Breeze GTX – a hybrid, waterproof hiking boot built using our “Arc Tempo” trail running last – is a great alternative for winter trail running. It doesn’t have the Thinsulate insulation, but it does have the D-rings and the high ankle protection.
